Own the Night: DJ your next party with Fire TV
Raise the roof with these music apps.
I love throwing house parties. It’s easy and everyone’s bound to get a little wild. That is, if you throw a good house party. What constitutes a good house party? At my house, it’s Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars; a disco ball, three kids, a husband, good friends, and Fire TV.
There’s different ways to listen to your favorite tunes on Fire TV, but these are my tried and true house party DJ-ing essentials. Let’s get started!
🎶 VEVO 🎶
Did you know that the VEVO app on Fire TV has endless playlists of music videos? That’s right, no more trolling the internet for some good music videos. Just download the VEVO app and choose from recommended music video playlists or “start a station” for a more personalized touch, you can even sort by genre. And did I mention that it’s free?
Leave the videos on to set the atmosphere while you clink glasses, nosh on appetizers, and catch up with your buds. If you add the Amazon Basics Sound Bar, you’ll get a built-in subwoofer with plug in or Bluetooth connectivity for some serious sound improvement.
🎤 Amazon Music 🎤
Who doesn’t love karaoke? Especially at a bar, in front of strangers, competing with that one girl’s on-point rendition of Paradise by the Dashboard Light *eyeroll*. If you’re like me (a horrible songstress), and just like mumbling the words while you chug a margarita, then Amazon Music on Fire TV is where it’s at. You can skip the trip downtown and host your own karaoke party in the living room. With the Amazon Music app on Fire TV, the lyrics to the songs appear on screen.
Prime members can enjoy over 2 million songs commercial free, or if you have an Amazon Music Unlimited Subscription you can listen to over 10 million.
When you’re ready to get started and don’t know what to sing, just say “Alexa, play Karaoke Night.” It’s a sing-along playlist featuring favorites like Sweet Child o’ Mine, Single Ladies, Waterfalls, and Criminal plus a lot more. Everyone can see and belt out the lyrics that scroll in time to the music, karaoke style, on your TV screen.
